Design Agreement: Ensuring Clarity and Success in Projects

If the design that you agreed upon with your client is done, then it can save you loads of dollars to fix it later on, even for the client. The client won’t stay for a second chance, highly unlikely that might happen. But you can avoid this situation entirely by sitting with the client and putting a stamp of approval for the final design that they want from you.

An agreement between two parties is always an important aspect in any business. An agreement specifies the word of mouth on paper and it is sort of a legal promise that needs to be kept if not there will be consequences. But as far as a design agreement goes, a design that you and your client have agreed upon and the client wants you to give the design to you as an end result is an agreement.

A design agreement beforehand, and to get it right the first time is highly important. The main thing that comes to mind is that when you do not agree upon a final design as an interior designer, you are giving rise to second guesses and thoughts, these second guesses can ruin a client’s idea of their design that they had in their mind. It can even make them go astray from you and you can potentially lose a client, and when you lose a client, you lose your reputation to deliver.

Reasons why design agreement is important to get it right the first time.

Reason no. 1: You will have to spend thousands of dollars to fix it.

No client wants to pay extra money to fix the work they wanted to be perfect in the first run, so it is highly advised to get set on the final design for the client and make an agreement on it so you do not have to spend thousands of dollars to fix it.

Reason no. 2: You will have to put your reputation on the line.

If you do not agree with the final design beforehand, and problems come up later, then you are going to have to fix that problem, even from your own pocket to make sure you do not get any negative reactions from the client and from the reviewers. A reputation is all an interior designing business relies on and if that goes negative, clients won’t reach you. It can even make them go astray from you and you can potentially lose a client, and when you lose a client, you lose your reputation to deliver.

Reason no. 3: You won’t have time for new projects from new clients.

If your previous client is not satisfied, and you have other future projects on the line, how will you manage? You cannot let the previous client ruin your reputation at the same time you do not want the future projects to be delayed. You also do not want your future clients who have given you projects to think that you couldn’t satisfy your previous customers.

These are the reasons why you should have a design agreement and why it is so important to get it right the first time.
